alt-j "breezeblocks" video interpretation

This video may be 6 years old (it doesn't look it) but it still astounds me today.

Now when i first saw this video two weeks ago it confused me. For those who don't want to watch it, it's a murder in reverse. But, depending on how you interpret it and what direction you play it in, it changes.

Backwards:

If you play the video normally, (backwards) The order of events goes as so: A married man's wife has been drowned in a bathtub, held down by a breezeblock/cinderblock. She somehow manages to get out of the bathtub alive, and attempts to stab the man. The quarrel and fight, until the man knocks her into the bathtub with the breezeblock, placing it back on her chest and in a final twist, placing tape over another woman's mouth and putting her in a cupboard, hanging up his coat, turning off the lights and leaving the basement.

Forwards:

If you play it forwards, it looks completely different. A married man discovers a woman with her mouth taped over, in a cupboard. He takes the tape off and reassures her. A woman comes behind him with a knife, however he tries to dodge. They quarrel, and the man accidentally knocks her out with a breezeblock, He places her into the bathtub with the breezeblock over her, sitting down and crying.
